Star Studded Christmas Tree

Star-Studded Christmas Tree

Items you'll need:

If you’re already dreaming of a white Christmas, then this modern twist on the Christmas tree is just for you! You can hang these white paper lanterns right against the wall, using clear fishing line for a floating appearance, or colored yarn to add a pop of color. Simply thread your string through two star-shaped holes at the tip of a star to hang it upright, or just use the attached closure string to hang it upside down (see the center inset image for an illustration). You may use clear tape, white or clear thumbtacks, or even plant hooks to hang your star lanterns, your choice. Then, after arranging your lanterns into a triangle pattern as shown, hang glamorous, radiant globe string lights in rows on either side. For a final touch, wrap one or two gift boxes in white wrapping paper, festoon with white ribbon, and position below the stars to act as a clever tree trunk!

Board Tree

Items you'll need:

Are you loving the look of hand-hewn, repurposed and upcycled Christmas decorations? Are you becoming bored with traditional trees? Well then check out our Not Boring Board Tree! It’s super easy to throw together: just roughly paint up five planks of wood, allow to dry, and then just stack against the wall! We chose to drape ours in our favorite Multicolor LED Globe String Lights—which can hang from thumbtacks or small nails inserted into the wood—and then topped it off with a beautiful golden star shaped paper lantern. Feel free to hang lightweight ornaments from the light wires, or add fishing line or colorful yarn from which to hang them. And if you want to get really fancy, try inserting one of the string lights into the star before tying it closed…twinkle, twinkle little star!

Colorful Paper Lantern Tree

Items you'll need:

Choose bold colors or go monochromatic when designing your festive paper lantern Christmas tree! A lightweight, modern and adventurous adaptation, you can simply hang Round Paper Lanterns from fishing line attached to your ceiling using plant hooks, thumbtacks or nails. Hang the bottom layer of lanterns first—four or five, depending on the height of your ceiling and the final width you want to achieve. This gives you a reference point for hanging subsequent, higher layers. Gradually reduce the number of lanterns at each layer until your arrangement tapers at the top, like a real tree. Then, to add points of light, simply take your Fairy Lights out of the packaging, and don’t unfurl the wire. Spread the loops to expand and separate the points of light…this will also make them easy to repackage and store later, if you wish! You can drape these loopy lights anywhere on the lantern tree…they hang easily from the metal frame inside each lantern. We chose to add a string of Star Shaped Fairy Lights at the top as a nod to tradition!

Pallet Candle Tree

Items you'll need:
  • • An assortment of Flameless Candles
  • Twine
  • • A plank of wood cut into successively larger pieces (ours are 6”, 11” and 15”, but you can make yours as large or small as you like!)

Candles have a long and rich association with the Christmas season, beginning with an ancient winter solstice observation to be mindful of the renewing springtime yet to come. Here at Lights For All Occasions, we’ve created a luminous way to celebrate this magical time of year with candles: a glowing, flameless votive and pillar candle Christmas tree! Upcycle a pallet board by fitting boards cut in three or more successively larger pieces into the open slots between slats (our planks are 6”, 11” and 15”, but you can cut yours to any desired dimensions). Depending on the spacing of your wood slats, you may either need to thin the back edge of your cut-to-size boards by whittling, or use twine or wood shims to wedge the boards securely into each slot. For added security, use wood glue to stabilize your boards. Then simply light your Flameless Candles and arrange them as shown. Add a star or a twine bow on the top for a touch of charm!
